PALLET LIFTS (VERTICAL TRANSPORT)

Automated system for the vertical transport of pallets to maximize height utilization and streamline internal goods flow.

Automation of vertical pallet movements

Vertical pallet conveyors are automated pallet lifts that efficiently move palletized loads between different floors or storage levels. They ensure pallets are moved with full control and absolute stability to the desired height.

Mecalux pallet lifts are robust systems that can be easily integrated into both automated and conventional warehouses. Equipped with an electric motor and a conveyor for precise handling, they ensure continuity in internal pallet flow and increase productivity by reducing transport times.

ADVANTAGES OF VERTICAL CONVEYORS

  • Great height: pallet lifts are a solution for warehouses with multiple levels, capable of lifting pallets up to 40 meters high.
  • High load capacity: their sturdy construction allows them to handle pallets weighing up to 1,500 kg.
  • Speed: the vertical transport of palletized loads is streamlined. Pallet lifts achieve speeds of 80 m/min for loads up to 1,000 kg and 60 m/min for loads up to 1,500 kg.
  • Easy integration: the compact single-column structure takes up minimal space, allowing the system to be seamlessly integrated into various warehouse setups (with conveyors, Electric Monorail System, etc.).
  • Safe: vertical conveyors are stable, ensuring the integrity of the transported goods.
  • Wide thermal range: vertical conveyors can operate in low and high temperatures (from -30 ºC to +40 ºC).

"Thanks to the automatic pallet lifts, flows are now much faster" — Christian Kalch, Director of Industry and Logistics, Mephisto (Saarburg, France)

APPLICATIONS OF PALLET LIFTS

Powerful solution for vertical transport of pallets in all types of warehouses

Vertical conveyors can operate in various scenarios. Their use streamlines the transport of palletized loads in intralogistics operations where vertical movement is required.

Warehouses with multiple levels

Pallet lifts can vertically transport palletized loads, connecting warehouse zones located on different floors.

Automated storage systems

Vertical conveyors move pallets between different storage levels in systems such as the Automatic Pallet Shuttle with transfer cars and the 3D Automatic Pallet Shuttle System. The pallet lifts connect the entry/exit points of the racking block with the various levels.

Mezzanines and elevated aisles

Pallet lifts are used for the storage and retrieval of loads on upper levels of high-rise warehouses, such as mezzanines and racking systems with elevated aisles.

FAQ
Question - answer
What are vertical conveyors for pallets?
Pallet elevators, also called vertical conveyors or vertical transporters, are designed to automatically lift or drop loads on pallets in certain intralogistics operations.
How high can a pallet elevator reach?
Pallet elevators can lift loads up to 40 m high.
What is the maximum load capacity of a pallet elevator?
Pallet elevators can carry loads up to 1,500 kg.
What is the maximum speed of a pallet elevator?
The pallet elevators achieve a maximum speed of 80 m/min when transporting loads up to 1,000 kg and 60 m/min for loads up to 1,500 kg.
What sizes can vertical conveyors handle?
Mecalux's vertical conveyors can accommodate the main types of pallets on the market, from Euro pallets (800 x 1,200 mm, 1,000 x 1,200 mm and 1,200 x 1,200 mm) to American or GMA pallets measuring 48" x 40".
How are pallets placed on the pallet elevator?
The vertical conveyor is equipped with a conveyor belt that uses rollers or chains. The choice of the type of conveyor depends on the direction of travel and the type of pallet.
When is a pallet elevator installed?
Pallet elevators are mainly used to overcome height differences and transport pallets between different floors in all types of warehouses. In addition, they are also used to move pallets between storage levels in certain automated storage solutions. Another application is connecting the upper levels of high storage structures such as mezzanine floors/entresols and racking to an aisle at height.
What is the difference between a pallet elevator and a warehouse crane?
Warehouse cranes are designed for the automatic storage of pallets. They move both vertically and horizontally through the aisle. Telescopic forks autonomously retrieve pallets from the racks and set them down. Vertical conveyors, on the other hand, perform only a single movement: they are designed for vertical transport of palletized loads. However, they are also used in automatic storage systems such as, for example, the 3D automatic Pallet Shuttle system, where they transport pallets between the entrance/exit of the racking block and the different storage levels. In this solution, the 3D shuttle drives through the aisles to put down and take out the pallets.
How many pallet elevators should you install in automated storage systems?
In automatic storage systems that use pallet elevators, such as the Pallet Shuttle with feeders and the 3D Pallet Shuttle, two elevators are usually installed, one for input and one for output. However, if more cycles/hour are needed in the warehouse, the number of elevators can be increased and two are installed for input and two for output.
